1. Cathedral Church of the Redemption

Cathedral church of the redemption, where there is a beautiful silver cross donated by Lord Irwin after being mesmerized by the beautiful structure. Located to the east of President’s House, this church is not that innovatively constructed. But still this cathedral is among the most beautiful and magnificent churches in India. It has beautifully curved high arches and delicate domes. It is built in such a way that even during the intense summer, the church remains cool & comfortable. The interiors has little white openings that filter in the sunlight and gorgeous stained glass windows all made up of white stone. There are three entrances from the North, South & West. One can say that it is a great example of wonderful tribute to Indian Christian life. Undoubtedly, one will fall in love with the architecture and traditional sitting style.

2. Sacred Heart Cathedral Church

One of the oldest Roman Catholic cathedral in Delhi which belongs to the Latin Rite. This beautiful brown and yellow masterpiece is standing between two prominent schools, St. columba’s and Convent of Jesus and Merry. Complex also houses the headquarters of the Indian Archdiocese. Church utilizes almost 14.1 acres in Connaught Place near the Gol Dak Khana at Bhai Vir Singh Marg. In 2011, catherdral was named as one of the icons of the city of Delhi by The Hindustan Times. 3. St. James’ Church

St. James Church

St. james church is an Anglican church in Delhi which is also known as Skinner’s Church, located at the beginning of the lothian road, Kashmere Gate. It is one of the oldest churches in the city and an architectural landmark in Delhi. Church is of a western classical design with a Greek cross plan. The dome is covering central main area of the church which also bears some resemblance to the dome of the Florence Cathedral by Brunelleschi. Also the church has beautiful stained glass windows inside, and houses the Skinner Family cementry with a number of interesting marble monuments in its compound. It has a Florentine dome and was damaged in 1857 by the rebel sepoys but later repaired. Just below the communion table is the tombstone of Colonel James Skinner, the military adventurer who gave his name to the church. Very few know that one of the famous tourist attractions in Delhi, William Frazer Bungalow is situated behind this Church.

4. St. Mary’s Church

5. St. Stephen’s Church

St. stephen’s church is a church of North India. It was built in the gothic romanesque style  by Anglican missionaries. Church has tall a bell tower and wonderful stained glass rose windows. Church also has arched windows which allow the sunlight to brighten the interiors. One can see the marvelous interior well maintained with motifs, carvings, pictures and beautiful furniture. All the Delhi buildings which are associated with St. Stephen’s  namely the famous St. Stephen’s College and St. Stephen’s Hospital and st. Stephen’s church are red in colour. It is said to symbolize not only the blood of St. Stephen but also the first Christian martyrs who were killed during the Indian Mutiny of 1857.

6. St. Baptist church

The Central Baptist Church was established in 1814. Situated in the front of Gauri Shankar Mandir on the main Chandni Chowk Road. It is said to be the oldest Church of the northern Indian region. The church land was purchased by “ The Baptist Missionar Society” in the late 18th century. Central Baptist Church is also known as the “Mother Church” reason being many leaders, preachers, pastors and reverends were raised here now is leading several other main churches in Delhi.

7. Holy trinity church

A small yet tranquil church is sitting just next to Turkman Gate “ the Holy Trinity Church”. Legend has that foundation stone was laid on 1 february 1904 by Mary R. Maitland in the memory of Alaxander Charles Maitland. This church is said to have been completely built in 1905. This local quartzite stone building seems an ultimate architectural example.
