Introduction: A memorial dedicated to “Father of the Nation” situated on the ring road near Darya Ganj. Memorial named as RAJ GHAT which used to be the name of a ghat on the banks of Yamuna River. A platform made up of black marble marks the site where Gandhi ji was cremated. An eternal flame has been burning constantly at middle of the memorial. Gandhiji’s (Mahatma Gandhi) last word “HEY RAM” are inscribed on the marble platform where tourists offer flowers during the visit. Memorial is surrounded by a beautiful green park where the trees are planted by many great personalities Ho Chi Minh, Queen Elizabeth II, USA President Eisenhower and many more. His last words, ‘Hey Ram,’ are inscribed on the marble which is always adorned with flowers. More than 10,000 people visit Rajghat daily including foreigners.

 



History: Raj ghat marks the site where last rites were performed on January 31, 1948 after his assassination in 1948. The memorial was designed by Vanu G. Bhuta.
